Chair Yoga 6 Week Series ~ Approachable for All Bodies

Tuesday, 4/4 ~ 4:45-5:45 pm

You’d love to take a yoga class, but getting up and down on a mat is a challenge, you have limited balance or mobility, your knees are tender, or you are recovering from an injury, come on over and pull up a chair!

Chair Yoga is an accessible form of yoga for any age group. In this class, we will use the chair as a prop to help modify the poses while maintaining all the benefits of yoga including: stress relief, increased energy, strength, muscle tone, balance, deepened breath capacity and overall health.


This class can also provide training for office workers to utilize at their desk, and is a great way to share a yoga class with a parent or grandparent. No previous yoga experience needed. Reserve your spot today!

Gentle Yoga 6 Week Series

Thursday, 4/6 ~ 7:30-8:45pm

The Gentle class is designed for students interested in a slower, but equally effective practice. You will experience gently held postures and breathing techniques that calm the mind, relax the body, and improve joint health and flexibility. This is the class for times of high stress or low energy. It is great for beginners, seniors,  experienced students, or anyone seeking a gentle and meditative practice.

Befriending Your Mind - Intro Meditation

6 wk series begins Thursday, 4/20 ~ 6:00-7:15 pm

Drawing from research in neuroscience on meditation's ability to positively change the brain, this course will provide tools to honestly and compassionately relate with your mind. These techniques that reshape the brain will help to steady your mind, reduce stress, notice the positive, and heal painful experiences which promote a life of balance, peace and joy. 

Drop-ins are not permitted in this class.

Deepening Your Practice - Meditation (experienced)

Supported from a strong foundational practice, we will delve into an exploration of inquiry meditation. The next step for a dedicated practitioner inspired towards self-realization.

Foundations of Practice & Befriending Your Mind or The Opening Enlightening Intensive through Vital Life Center are required before taking this course. Previous meditation experience and strong personal practice may be considered to waive this requirement. Please contact Jayaprabha to determine if this course is right for you.

Power Vinyasa 6 Week Series

A power practice intermingled with a therapeutic approach is utilized to mobilize stagnant energy within the body, open up energy channels and restore balance to the nervous system. This is done through consciously moving in and out of poses designed to strengthen the body and mind; coupled with the use of props for supported poses. The aim of the class is to both stimulate and balance the Yin and Yang energies of the nervous system.

Satsang - In the company of Truth

In this meditation study course a book is chosen for each series. Participants are invited to engage in a reading assignment each week. The class will begin with an experiential practice including chanting, breath exercises and a silent sit. Then we will discuss the reading and share ideas, questions, inspirations, quotes from the book, etc. to deepen our practice.

You are welcome to sign up for the whole series or drop-in week to week.

Kate Callahan ~ Songs of Love, Courage & Transformation

Kate Callahan is an American singer-songwriter and Connecticut's State Troubadour. She sings original songs of courage and transformation plus music by Leonard Bohen and Bob Dylan.

Kate says she's "always had a light in her when it comes to songwriting and singing." Moved to serve something greater in her work as a folk artist, she is grateful to be Connecticut's 16th State Troubadour. Connecticut is one of the only states in the nation that honors a singer-songwriter with a formal position. Kate will serve as an ambassador of music and song and promote cultural literacy among Connecticut citizens until March 2018.

Kate writes mainly from inspiration, giving her songs spiritual, social and emotional weight. The Boston Globe says, "Kate Callahan has garnered an appreciative audience with her easygoing vibe and inspirational, at times mystical lyrics."

Benefit Kirtan with Swamini Lalitananda and Jayaprabha & the Joy of Sound

Join Swamini Lalitananda and Jayaprabha & The Joy of Sound in a Divine Musical Kirtan Celebration!!  

Swamini Lalitananda has joined Sri Omananda Swamiji in a noble undertaking. Together, they are raising money for the Atma Vidya Ashram to house, feed, and educate over 252 children in five different locations around India. 

Besides these children, 30 destitute women are supported through this mission along with 110 poor, sick and dying elderly people.  Much help is needed for the sick and dying elderly people. They need medicine, a special diet and a van for transportation to the hospital.

Donations to the Atma Vidya Ashram are always welcome and are tax deductible.
